The Higher School of Economics Center for Bioelectric Interfaces in Moscow, Russia invites applications for postdoctoral research positions in the field of neuroimaging and neurointerfaces. The tasks range from designing novel, more efficient methods for solving the inverse problem of electro- and magnetoencephalography (EMEG) using both classical and novel machine-learning based techniques to development of invasive bidirectional electrocorticographic interfaces in collaboration with our clinical partners. Another exciting topic is the development of novel sensor arrays and the corresponding analytics for OPM-based magnetoencephalography.

The job involves:

  • working under the direct supervision of Director of the Center for Bioelectric Interfaces, Dr. Alexei Ossadtchi
  • pursuing their own research in parallel with working on the Center for Bioelectric Interfaces research projects in several broad areas:
  1. Invasive bidirectional ECoG-based neurointerfaces
  2. EEG and MEG inverse modeling
  3. EEG and MEG based connectivity analysis
  4. OPM-based magetoencephalography
  5. Neurointerfaces, neurofeedback and real time EMEG based neuroimaging
  6. Electromyography based interfaces for advanced control of prosthetic devices
  • writing research papers for international peer-reviewed journals in co-authorship with the members of Center
  • participation in organization of the events and other contribution to the Сenter’s development and promotion of its activity
  • public presentations of candidate’s own research to the researchers in the field and the broader academic community
  • some teaching is encouraged, though not required.
The Center for Bioelectric Interfaces is a part of the newly established Institute for cognitive neuroscience and offers access to numerous neuroimaging and neuromodualtion facilities such as high density EEG, MEG, high density electromyography, navigated TMS, tDCS, tACS, fMRI and MRI.

Requirements:

  • a PhD from a reputable university (Russian or foreign) in such fields as: mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, computer science, neuroscience
  • a strong background mathematical data analysis techniques, signal processing, solving ill-posed inverse problems with traditional and novel techniques includingthe use of deep learning approaches
  • ability to work in a team
  • fluent English
  • relevant experience in EEG and medical image analysis is a plus although notrequired for initial consideration
Appointments will be normally made for one year with a possibility of extension for another year. Following that and upon a successful completion of duties it is possible to apply to one of the assistant professor positions HSE offers on a competitive basis.

Vacancy in the HSE Russian Postdoc Program with a salary of 150 thousand rubles per month. Increased income is possible due to participation in additional projects of the Center and the Institute of Cognitive Neurosciences. The position is available for two years. Flexible work schedule. At the end of the term employment at HSE or in partner organizations is possible.

A CV and research statement aossadtchi@hse.ru along with two letters of recommendation that should be submitted by the referees directly ossadtchi@gmail.com ASAP. The position is available until filled. The salary is commensurate with relevant experience and the assessed potential to perform fruitful research.
