The Tale of Two Rooms: Comparison of QuSpin Zero-Field OPMs’ Operation in Two Magnetically Shielded Environments addresses both metrological aspects of OPM application and practical issues of signal quality improvement.
The paper presents a quantitative methodology for standardization and evaluation of measurement quality, which is particularly relevant for biomedical applications, such as magnetoencephalography (MEG).Special attention is paid to a new development-the digital adaptive noise reduction system (DASS), which is a portable and more efficient alternative to traditional analog active shielding systems. Experiments with commercial QuSpin OPMs of the first and third generations have shown that DASS provides reliable operation of magnetometers even in urban noise conditions.
